beautiful Hard drive, Winter 2025
This project explored the relationship between unity and variation in a single object split into two distinct sections. One emphasized gradual transitions and balance, while the other conveyed dynamic rhythm through faster, more abrupt surfaces. The interplay between smooth, compound-bent forms and tipped, scalloped surfaces created a continuous visual flow, guiding the eye in a looping path around the object. Changes in perception between holding the form and viewing it at rest added to its complexity, with shadow and curvature revealing new details from different angles.
The piece was hand-formed and finished to maintain bilateral symmetry, with careful edge refinement to balance visual contrast and weight distribution.
